Introduction Video with Meshwork Press
Back in the very early days of Bright Archives—I’m talking pre-website, pre-LLC—our friends Haylee Ebersole and Kyrie Bushaw reached out to us to make an introduction video for Meshwork Press, their letterpress shop. Every week, Meshwork Press prints a variety of greeting cards, designed in-house and sometimes in collaboration with Pittsburgh artists. Lilac, true blue, neon pink, and Pittsburgh-bright yellow are frequent colors of choice. Illustrations are paired with encouraging, enthusiastic text. One card read, “Ok, you’re baby is seriously the cutest.” Another goes, “Wishing you moments of deep stillness this holiday season.” But Meshwork is more than beautiful, letterpress prints. They play a part in their community of Wilkinsburg, partnering with the Wilkinsburg Youth Project (WYP) and The Braddock Youth Project (BYP) to provide year-round art & design programming. Our introduction video aims to capture both sides of the business.
An introduction video is a great way to explain your business to customers. It’s a chance to call attention to aspects of your work that are important to you. And you can get creative with it!
We filmed documentation of the letterpress in action, the process of packaging greeting cards, and various activities with the summer youth artists like screen printing, bookbinding, and designing. We conducted interviews with youth artists Karma, Charleigh, Truth, and Jayda, and recorded a voice-over with Haylee. As the process developed, professional voice-over artist Annie Huntington recorded the final script, and musician Robby Swiech composed original music for the video. It was a beautiful coming together of talents!
